How do you do with asking for help?
I’m talking about anything from asking for a little bit of help like, “Can you pick something up for me at the store you’re already going to?” all the way up to that BIG ask of helping you to be accountable in a major life transformation you’re going after. There’s this really broad spectrum of things in life that we can be asking for help on, but no matter what we need help on, it’s the ask that generally trips us up the most.
I’ve learned a little bit about my listener over these past few months of podcasting and asking questions, and one thing I know is that you’re a highly motivated bunch. You have a sense of destiny on your life, you know you have a call on your life to do something great, and you love to see transformation happen!
What I’ve also come to know about you is that you’re likely to have a slightly “weird” relationship with asking for help because, like many of us, you’ve picked up the idea along the way that you have to do this stuff all by yourself. That somehow the quality of the success you’re going to see is somehow based on whether you were able to do it on your own or not.
But can I tell you something? That is SUCH a lie! We are human beings who were designed by God to live in community and to help one another. And so I believe this ability to ask for help, and to do it in a healthy way, is actually a massive gift from God to us . . . if we steward it rightly.
Has this concept of asking for help in a healthy way got you thinking? Are you interested to know four tips that can get you asking for help with less drama and stress, and more results you can feel good about? If so, I want you to grab your journal and a pen, and . . . Let’s Go!
What you will learn in this episode:
- The two unhealthy reasons for why we may resist asking for help;
- What the Bible says about responsibility and how to ask for help;
- Four tips for asking for help in a healthy way; and
- How a group environment can get you the help you want.
Scripture References mentioned in this episode:
Galatians 6:2-5 —
2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. 5 For each will have to bear his own load.
Philippians 4:6-7 —
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:13 —
13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
John 14:16-18 —
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,[f] to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be[g] in you.

The Beacon 21 Day Reset — I’m hosting a mini-program starting January 10th designed to help you press the reset button on stewarding your health well. The Beacon 21 Day Reset is a set of 21 habits that work at one of the levels of your triune being — spirit, soul and body — to help you engage and see improvements in general health. We incorporate one habit per day during the 21 days and then we maintain the new habit plus the previously introduced habits for the remainder of the 21 days. It’s that simple. You can also choose to implement all 21 habits from day one for a bit of an “amped up” challenge! You do you, boo.
To join the challenge simply go to www.ericapyle.com/ResetNow. I believe this is the next best step in stewarding your health well so you are around long enough and strong enough to do and be all God created you for.
