Is is possible — Biblically speaking — to accelerate breakthrough?
We’ve all been there. Going around the same mountain for the umpteeth time and wondering, “Will this ever end? Will I ever get out of this desert? When will I stop feeling so stuck?” And when you talk to your Christian friends, they point to a litany of scriptures to show you this timeline is “good” for you; that it’s refining you and perfecting your character and all those sorts of things. But deep down you really just want to know — “Is there any way to make this part go faster? Can’t I just get to the breakthrough?”
So what do you think? Does the Bible give us any evidence that accelerating breakthrough is a real possibility for those of us who believe Jesus and follow him? And if so, how do we do it, like, pronto? That’s what we’re diving into on this week’s episode of The Positioned to Prosper podcast. If you’re ready to dig in, I want you to grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let’s Go!
LAST CALL: To join the four-week study I mention in the episode intro called — The Tenacious Girl’s Guide to Breakthrough: A Map for Navigating the Journey of Audacious Faith with God, click here. We start April 18th, so get registered ASAP!
Scripture References Mentioned in This Episode:
Micah 2:13 —
The breaker goes up before them; They break out, pass through the gate and go out by it. So their king goes on before them, And the LORD at their head.
Ezekiel 13:17-23 —
17 “And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own hearts. Prophesy against them 18 and say, Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the women who sew magic bands upon all wrists, and make veils for the heads of persons of every stature, in the hunt for souls! Will you hunt down souls belonging to my people and keep your own souls alive? 19 You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, putting to death souls who should not die and keeping alive souls who should not live, by your lying to my people, who listen to lies.
20 “Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against your magic bands with which you hunt the souls like birds, and I will tear them from your arms, and I will let the souls whom you hunt go free, the souls like birds. 21 Your veils also I will tear off and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand as prey, and you shall know that I am the Lord. 22 Because you have disheartened the righteous falsely, although I have not grieved him, and you have encouraged the wicked, that he should not turn from his evil way to save his life, 23 therefore you shall no more see false visions nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand. And you shall know that I am the Lord.”
Hebrews 6:12 —
Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.
Psalm 27:13-14 —
I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.
Isaiah 60:22 —
At the right time, I, the LORD, will make it happen.
Ecclesiastes 3:14-15 —
I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him. That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.
John 2:3-5 —
When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
