#103: Anxious For Nothing? A Spirit, Soul, Body Approach

October 8, 2022

Where does being anxious for nothing happen? Is it a spirit, soul or body activity?

You could argue that it’s definitely a spiritual activity because we find this command in the Bible (Paul to the Philippians). But then there’s also the argument, born of the world, that says the *only* way to address anxiety effectively is through physical and/or medicinal means. And what about the *enlightened* crew out there who understands that the mind plays a big part in how our thinking impacts how we feel and what happens in our body?

What if everyone is a little bit right? What if being anxious for nothing is all of them — a spiritual activity, a soul activity and a physical body activity? What if the truth is: Being anxious for nothing has everything to do with every part of your triune being being properly aligned with each other and with Truth? (Spoiler Alert: That’s totally what the Truth is!)

In this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast I’m going to be walking us through the triune approach to being anxious for nothing. I’ll share Biblical principles so you can see where the triune being framework comes from, and then I’ll give you some practical strategies for your spirit, soul and body that you can engage with to see anxiety flee, and the peace that passes all understanding coming to guard your heart and mind, all while your body gets the memo that it can chill down and trust God fully.

Sound good? If you’re ready for this, I want you to grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let’s Go!

THE BEACON SUGAR DETOX IS COMING! Our next LIVE round of The Beacon Sugar Detox starts Sunday, October 23rd. Want to join us? For more details and to sign up, head over to ericapyle.com/Detox.

Scripture References Mentioned in This Episode:

Philippians 4:6-8
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

3 John 2 (NKJV)
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Joshua 1:6-9
Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Matthew 6:25-34
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
