“The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” – Isaiah 55:10-11 NLT
Plants need rain to grow. Precipitation is a major factor in determining the size and quality of any kind of harvest. Water makes growth and harvests possible. God says his Word is like water. It causes things to grow and produce. God tells us when he sends out his Word it always produces fruit.
God uses a lot of demonstratives when talking about his Word. It always produces fruit, it accomplishes all he wants it to, and it prospers everywhere he sends it. These are big claims, but God is not a man that he would lie (Numbers 23:19). His Word has the ability to produce fruit – all the time. His word has the ability to fully and completely accomplish every ounce of the intention he has for it. His Word prospers – causes fruitfulness and fullness – everywhere he sends it. God’s Word goes all the way and gets the whole job done.
How does God send out his Word? In this verse, God sends his Word by having the prophet Isaiah declare it. There is power in the spoken Word of God. God gives his Word to be spoken over and into circumstances and situations, people and places, strongholds and sacred places. The Word can take on anything and cause it to come into line with the intention God has for it. The Word of God is powerful.
Your life’s purpose and calling is a Word. God probably enlightened you to this purpose or calling via a vision, a dream, a prophetic utterance or a “knowing” inside of you. He gave you a Word. You activate this Word by believing it in faith and speaking it. Speaking is to the Word what watering and feeding is to a seed. We nurture the Word of God in our lives by speaking it on a regular and consistent basis.
God says that his Word will accomplish all he wants it to and it will prosper everywhere he sends it. Grab ahold of the Word of God for your life – any situation, problem, relationship or opportunity – and begin to speak that Word in faith. Then you will begin to see the Word of God prospering in your life.
