We’ve become experts at justifying why we can’t stay connected.
Church hurt. Leadership “scandals.” Differing opinions on worship styles or even politics. So many things can come up to tempt us to believe that disconnecting would be a much better answer than sticking around and working through it. But understand something —
Jesus told us himself (John 15) and Paul reiterated in his letters to the Corinthians (1 Cor. 12) and the Ephesians (Chapter 4) that God wants UNITY in His Body. Not only does He want unity, He commands us to value it and pursue it as a priority as we walk out our lives in this world.
So, why is it that we give ourselves a “break” so often, deciding to disconnect — from our church family, from our godly friends, even from our closest people — instead of staying connected and fighting for this unity, and growth that can only be found when there’s this sort of pressure and tension?
On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast I’m sharing my message from last week’s REVIVE Woman Girls Night Out event. In this preach I share what I think the three reasons are for our subconscious lean towards disconnect and what we’re going to need to do instead if we want to stay connected in the Body of Christ, bringing pleasure to the heart of God. Are you ready for this? I knew you would be! So now, Grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let’s Go!

Scripture References Mentioned in This Episode:
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
1 Corinthians 12:1-27 — Spiritual Gifts + One Body with Many Members
John 15:4-5
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
Ephesians 4:11-13
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God . . .
