#131: Confessions of a Former Control Addict: A Plan For Breaking Free

June 10, 2023

Are you an “undercover” control freak?

C’mon! Be honest . . . Are you a Christian who knows control ain’t “cute,” but you just can’t seem to stop? Maybe you’ve made major strides with releasing control and can say, “Well, I used to be really bad, but now it’s just a little bit.” But is that little bit of controlling you’re allowing still causing a major drain in your life? Would you like to break free from the compulsion of feeling like you’ve got to be in charge of #allthethings and have more peace in your everyday?

On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast we’re getting into the hypervigilant nightmare that is control addiction. I used to be a major control freak (not even going to try to justify it), but God truly helped me to walk out of the compulsion of it all to see what was really driving it and what I needed to do to get realigned with Him so I could access peace and freedom in all its fullness. Are you ready to know what the Bible says about “good” and “bad” control? Would you like to know how to determine whether you’re addicted to “bad” control or what you can do to stand steadfast in the Bible-approved kind of control? And would you like to learn how to get free and stay free of unhealthy control for the long haul? If so, grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let’s Go!

Scripture References Mentioned in This Episode:

2 Timothy 1:7
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.
