#11: Shifting Spiritual Atmospheres

November 29, 2020

How do you shift a spiritual atmosphere?

Have you ever walked into a room and just known that a few minutes before people had been fighting in there? That’s picking up an atmosphere. Or how about this . . . you walk into a different room and now you feel the overwhelming peace and presence of God? That’s picking up an atmosphere, too.

See, we humans are spiritual beings, and we have the ability to pick up spiritual atmospheres. And as I’ve been asking folks what they’d like me to talk about next here on the podcast, the overwhelming answer I’ve received has been: Can you teach me how to shift a spiritual atmosphere? So that is what we’re going to do on this episode of Positioned to Prosper.

I love this question about shifting atmospheres because it tells me something: If you’re asking the question, then you know somewhere deep down inside that, as a child of God, you have the ability to shift an atmosphere. You just want to know how. So if you’re ready to learn about how to shift spiritual atmospheres in all different kinds of situations, I want you to grab your pen and a journal, and . . . Let’s Go!

What you will learn in this episode:

  • Three different scenarios where it is extremely helpful to know how to shift a spiritual atmosphere;
  • Different scriptures and skill sets that can help you to shift a spiritual atmosphere in each of the three scenarios;
  • How to shift spiritual atmospheres when it comes to your home, your marriage, your family, your church and more.

Scripture References mentioned in this episode:

1 Samuel 30:6 —
Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

Isaiah 61:1-3 —
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

Matthew 10:7 —
As you go, proclaim this message: “The kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Matthew 12:43-45 —
43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”

Phillipians 2:9-11 —
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

John 8:42-47 —
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

Proverbs 21:1 —
The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he guides it wherever he pleases.

Daniel 10:12-14 —
12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. 14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.”
